Arranging a funeral for a loved one

If you are planning a funeral for someone who served in the RAF and would like to honour the person’s service as part of the funeral, some useful advice is offered below:

  • For serving members of the RAF, the coffin can be draped in the Union Flag in line with Kings Regulations

  • For Veterans, the RAF Ensign can be used as a coffin drape

  • An RAF Association branded coffin drape may be available, from RAFA headquarter

  • We are unable to provide a guard of honour. However, a request can be made by the family for a Royal Air Force representative through their local Station Warrant Officer who, where circumstances allow, will do their best to arrange one

  • A request for a Standard Bearer, if available, may be made through  RAF Association Lincon branch.

Help with bereavement

There is never an easy way to deal with the immediate loss of a loved one. The RAF Association has a network of volunteer Welfare Officers who are available to chat when help is needed.
